GHSS Qaimoh Hosts Mega "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat" Awareness Drive; Takes Handover of Thokerpora Public Library
QAIMOH | AUGUST 05, 2026 — Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Qaimoh, functioning as the Cluster Head institution, hosted a landmark awareness programme under the banner "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat." Organized in collaboration with Mera Yuva Bharat (MYB), the day-long event brought together students, educators, administrative leaders, and community members in a unified stand against drug abuse and towards youth empowerment.
Multifaceted Student Competitions & Award Ceremony
The event saw enthusiastic participation from student contingents across various cluster schools, competing across educational, literary, cultural, and creative disciplines. The platform allowed young minds to demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, and artistic talent centered on social responsibility.
To recognize merit and encourage healthy student competition, high performers in each category were formally felicitated with awards and certificates during the closing ceremony.

Keynote Address, Anti-Drug Pledge, and Signature Campaign
The Chief Guest for the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Mr. Shahzad Alam, delivered a keynote address addressing the critical threat of substance abuse. He outlined the comprehensive measures initiated by the district administration to eradicate drug dependency and urged the youth to actively shield their peers from social evils.
In addition to his anti-drug message, Mr. Shahzad Alam provided structured career guidance, sharing actionable insights on academic discipline, career planning, and personal excellence.
Following his address, the Deputy Commissioner led the Anti-Drug pledge to students and staff committing to a drug-free lifestyle and community vigilance.
Handover of the Thokerpora Public Library
On the sidelines of the mega event, a significant community development milestone was marked with the official handover of a dedicated public library facility located at Thokerpora, Qaimoh.
Administrative Supervision: The newly constructed facility was officially handed over to the Principal of GHSS Qaimoh, Dr. Sajad Ahmad Mir, who will supervise and manage its operational framework.
Inter-Departmental Coordination: The handover ceremony took place in the presence of Tehsildar Qaimoh, Mr. Nisar Ahmad Wani, alongside key officials from the Public Works (R&B) Department Sub-Division Qaimoh, including the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Mr. Umer Farooq, and faculty members of GHSS Qaimoh.
Community Impact: Designed to cultivate a strong reading culture and provide students with vital academic resources, the library will open to the general public shortly. Local residents expressed appreciation for this strategic infrastructure addition to the region.
