The poem was written by Syed Ifham Ul Haq, currently studying in
Class 11th at
Government Higher Secondary School Qaimoh, in the year 2023.
The poem reflects the contemplative imagination of a young mind attempting
to understand its position within the immense cosmic matrix of existence.
Surrounded by the overwhelming grandeur of stars, clouds, oceans, silence,
thunder, and emotional turbulence, the poet searches for the point where
human consciousness synchronizes with nature itself.
Through layered metaphors of light and darkness, stillness and fear, the
poem explores the timeless adolescent inquiry into identity, emotional
isolation, existential belonging, and the fragile dialogue between the self
and the universe.
Options are few,
Reasons are many,
What are you?
Shining of the star,
Or lighting of the thunder?
Silence of the white cloud,
Or loudness of fearfulness?
You possess the rise like the waves
Of the vast ocean,
Or countless flickers of the stars.
What was so serious till a minute before?
The same silence and quietness remain.
Ah! Your silence breaks my heart
And tears my maiden mild heart apart.
Don’t my tears whisper to your ears?
Doesn’t my silence irritate your joy?
