Higher Secondary School (HSS) Qaimoh hosted an Awareness-cum-Training Programme on 7th January, 2026, organised by REACHA (an NGO) in collaboration with the District Administration Kulgam. The programme was aimed at enhancing awareness, preparedness and community response mechanisms with a special focus on disaster risk management.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Mir Ubaid (State Lead), REACHA, Mr. Peerzada Azhar Aejaz, Project Coordinator, Mr. Omar Verry, District Coordinator, Kulgam, Mr. Riyaz Ahmad Bangee, District Coordinator, Gandarbal, with the support of some more REACHA team Members. A specialised team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), comprising Mr. Shabir Hussain, Mr. M. Abass, and others conducted practical training sessions and live demonstrations, sensitising participants to emergency response protocols and life-saving techniques.
The programme was attended by several distinguished officers and dignitaries. Addresses were delivered, among others, by Dr. Sajad Ahmad Mir, Principal, HSS Qaimoh, and Mr. Nisar Ahmad Wani, Tehsildar Qaimoh, Kulgam, who highlighted the importance of awareness, preparedness, and coordinated efforts in safeguarding lives and property. The presence of Dy. Superintendent of Police Mr. Mohd. Farhan and SHO Qaimoh Mr. Kushab Kumar further enriched the deliberations, reinforcing the role of administration and law enforcement in disaster management and community welfare.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from teachers, students, Lumbardars, Chowkidars, officials from social welfare, members of SHGs and other community members, making it a truly inclusive and impactful initiative.
On the occasion, REACHA felicitated the Tehsildar Qaimoh, Dy. SP, Principal Government HSS Qaimoh, SHO Qaimoh, and Lumbardar Oudipora in recognition of their exemplary public service and continued support for meaningful social and community-oriented causes. Both REACHA and the District Administration Qaimoh expressed their sincere gratitude to HSS Qaimoh for its valuable cooperation, institutional support, and proactive role in ensuring the successful conduct of the programme.
