In observance of World Environment Day, the Jammu & Kashmir Pollution Control Committee, Kulgam, organized a sensitization programme at Government Girls High School (GHS) Qaimoh, aiming to instill ecological awareness and foster environmental stewardship among students and faculty.

🗣️ Expert Lectures on Plastic Menace
Mr. Firdaus Ahmad delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the detrimental impact of single-use plastics on ecosystems, public health, and biodiversity. He emphasized the need for behavioral change, policy awareness, and community action in combating the plastic crisis.
Dr. Sajad Ahmad Dar , Principal Government Higher Secondary School spoke extensively on the theme.
In his thought-provoking lecture,Dr. Sajad Ahmad Mir, senstized the students to be an active part of the society and play the role that we can , by incorporating the skills of academics into the real life world.
Gousia Yousuf , Teacher, GHS Qaimoh, in her speech deliberated upon the history, essence , importance and way forward, regarding the World Environment Day. She spoke on the practical ways of how we can fight against the menace of single use plastic.

All attendees—students, teachers, and staff—participated in a solemn environmental pledge, committing themselves to:

🌱 Plantation Drive
A symbolic plantation drive was also conducted within the school premises. Students enthusiastically planted saplings, reaffirming their connection with nature. This practical engagement was not only a gesture of environmental commitment but also a reminder that every small step contributes to a greener future.
🌍 A Message Beyond the Day
The entire programme was organized under the umbrella of World Environment Day 2025, whose global theme is “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.” The event at GHS Qaimoh aligned with this theme by promoting local ecological action, raising awareness, and emphasizing student involvement as a force multiplier in environmental preservation.
The school administration expressed profound gratitude to the J&K Pollution Control Committee for choosing GHS Qaimoh as the venue for such a meaningful initiative.
